Geological, geotechnical and geochemical study of a sand exploration permit area located in Oueslatia Delegation, Kairouan Governorate, on behalf of « MINERALI INDUSTRIALI TUNISIA » .

To assess the quality and quantity of its geological sand reserves within an exploration permit area covering approximately 100 hectares, MINERALI INDUSTRIALI TUNISIA (MIT) commissioned us to carry out this project, which consists of a geological and geochemical study of a Group 6 sand exploration permit area to supply its production site located in Oueslatia, Kairouan Governorate.

This project consists of carrying out a geological, structural, geotechnical and geochemical study of a Group 6 exploration permit area (silica sand) at the locality known as « Bled El Mergueb » in Kairouan Governorate, with a view to obtaining an exploitation concession.

Our assignment with MINERALI INDUSTRIALI TUNISIA « MIT» consists of carrying out the following studies:

Geological and structural characterisation of the study site and mapping of the geological formations exposed there (preparation of lithostratigraphic logs and geological cross-sections within the exploration permit area).
A geotechnical study including core drilling and appropriate lithostratigraphic correlations.
A geochemical study including particle-size and chemical analyses and their interpretation.

Audit and technical assessment of the progress of extraction and site development works at the sand quarry, on behalf of « MINERALI INDUSTRIALI TUNISIA ».

« MINERALI INDUSTRIALI TUNISIA » commissioned our consultancy « BUT Géologie » to carry out a quarterly technical audit of the progress of extraction and site development works at the industrial sand quarry.

The audit programme examines the current state of the quarry in terms of extraction and site development works and their progress over 3 months, and determines their compliance with Tunisian quarrying standards. It then proposes a sequence of technical actions and works to be carried out over the following three months, with the aim of establishing a strategy to guide extraction and site development works within a regulatory framework, thereby implementing a policy to improve and apply product quality management rules on the one hand, and to manage the environmental impact of quarrying operations on the other.

The audit programme aims to:

Describe the current state of the sand quarry, including the condition of the quarry boundaries, tracks and faces, and the extraction and site development works carried out over the last 3 months.

Plan the extraction and site development works to be carried out over the next 3 months.
