Project description

Technical study on the development and rehabilitation of the area where extraction has been completed within the industrial aggregate quarry located at Djebel Semmama, Imadet Boulaaba, Kasserine Nord Delegation, Kasserine Governorate, on behalf of « CARRIERE YAHYAOUI ».

The developer, Mr Boubaker YAHYAOUI, commissioned our consultancy « BUT Géologie » to carry out a technical study on the development and rehabilitation of the area in the north-western part of the industrial aggregate quarry located at DJ. Semmama, Imadet Boulaaba, Kasserine Nord Delegation, Kasserine Governorate.

It should be noted that this area forms part of a plot leased from the State domain. The workable limestone reserves in this area have been exhausted. Therefore, over a period of 5 years (the lease term for the State-owned land), the developer must focus exclusively on development and rehabilitation works to restore this area to a condition that complies with and is compatible with the standards.

In this development and rehabilitation study, we addressed the following points in accordance with the requested terms of reference:

  • Examination and description of the current condition of the quarry, particularly the area in its north-western part covered by this study, including the condition of the quarry faces and the quality of the reserves.
  • Proposal of a sequence of technically feasible development and rehabilitation works to ensure compliance with Tunisian quarrying regulations.
  • Preparation of a 5-year rehabilitation schedule.

Project description

Audit and technical assessment of the progress of extraction and development works at the industrial aggregate quarry on behalf of « CARRIERE YAHYAOUI ».

The developer, Mr Boubaker YAHYAOUI, commissioned our consultancy « BUT Géologie » to carry out a technical audit of the industrial aggregate quarry located at DJ. Semmama, Imadet Boulaaba, Kasserine Nord Delegation, Kasserine Governorate.

The audit programme aims, in particular, to assess the current condition of the quarry in terms of extraction and development works and their progress over the past two months (August and September / 2022), and to determine their compliance with Tunisian quarrying standards. It consequently aims to propose a sequence of technical actions and works to be carried out over the next two months, with a view to establishing a strategy for directing extraction and development works within a regulatory framework, thereby implementing a policy of improvement and application of product quality management rules on the one hand, and management of the environmental impacts of quarrying operations on the other.
