As part of its commitment to the sustainable and efficient management of mineral resources, BUT Géologie recently conducted a comprehensive technical study at an industrial aggregates quarry located at Jbel Oust, in the Bir M’Chergua delegation, Zaghouan Governorate.
This strategic mission aimed primarily at the detailed characterization of the exploited deposit through high-precision geological mapping and in-depth structural analysis. The work conducted enabled the development of a reliable geological model, providing a fundamental basis for the evaluation of both geological and extractable reserves.
The approach adopted was designed to rigorously identify and quantify the volumes that can be realistically exploited, taking into account technical and geometric constraints, extraction limits, as well as requirements related to safety, material quality, and operational efficiency.
A Structured, Multi-Phase Approach
Updating the Topographic Reference
The first phase involved the preparation and updating of a topographic plan at a 1:2,000 scale (as of January 10, 2026). This document serves as a key reference for monitoring quarry operations and calculating reserves.
Geological Analysis and Deposit Modeling
The study produced detailed regional and local geological mapping, highlighting the spatial distribution and characteristics of outcropping formations.
Geological cross-sections, litho-stratigraphic logs, and a 3D block diagram were also developed to accurately represent the deposit’s architecture and structural relationships.
